Naples is a lush, tropical area known for its relaxed lifestyle, beautiful gulf beaches and the scenic Olde Naples area serves as the "Supreme Jewel" in the west coast Florida crown.
Seasonal residents and tourists converge on this lovely area four to five months during the winter. Known as a haven for retirees the median age range is actually only 44.1, which is a full two years younger than the age determination a year ago. Many settle here for good, in fact, Naples has been listed as the #2 fastest growing community for the last three years. It is truly a testament to this area's "Mediterranean" climate of long, sunny summers and dry, temperate winters. Temperatures vary between 70 (winter) and 90 (spring, summer, and fall).
Pastimes are numerous here, as the warm climate and accommodating waters provide an array of possibilities. Golf remains at the top of the list, as do fishing, tennis, boating of all types and, of course, old-fashioned sun bathing.
Shopping and dining are well represented in this area. Many designers and upscale retail stores enjoy a brisk business here. Some of our award-winning restaurants are considered among the best in Southwest and Southeast Florida. Quaint bistros, health food markets, delis and waterside seafood eateries encompass the many dining facilities as well. Ethnic foods of all types are represented and frequented often in this culturally diverse area.
Cultural pursuits in SW Florida are numerous for a town that was considered to be rather "sleepy" as early as five years ago. Galleries, the uniquely designed Philharmonic, or "Phil" and several community theatres and cinemas provide "food" for the mind.
More than just beaches, our area boasts some of the most unique and beautiful nature areas and parks in Florida. The mysterious Everglades National Park and Cypress Swamp inhabit a great deal of Collier County. Lover's Key and Wiggin's Pass State Parks are known for their lush flora and diverse waterscapes.
Business opportunities are abundant here due to the excelled growth and prosperous population. Our workforce increased 37 percent in the '90s. Small, entrepreneurial businesses do extremely well here -- for Southwest Florida is a burgeoning city that acts, and is in essence, a small town. |
